Description
A hood type dishwasher, also called a pass-through dishwasher, suits busier kitchens that have outgrown an undercounter machine. Instead of bending down to load a front door, staff slide a rack across from the bench, pull the hood down, and slide the clean rack out the other side when the cycle finishes. It's faster, easier on backs, and fits neatly into a dish line between a pre-rinse sink and an outlet bench.
The Ecomax 604 handles plates, glasses, cutlery and pots. The 440mm chamber height takes large items, and with optional open-ended tray racks it can wash full-size 1/1 gastronorm pans. You can choose a 75, 150 or 180-second cycle depending on the load. Digital temperature gauges show staff the wash and rinse temperatures at a glance. The rinse runs at a minimum of 82°C, and the thermostop holds the cycle until the water reaches temperature.
The hood is fully enclosed on all four sides, which keeps heat and steam inside the machine rather than in your kitchen. Each rinse uses only 2.3 litres of water. The wash tank is deep-drawn with coved corners and no welds, so there are fewer places for grime to build up, and a self-cleaning cycle helps at the end of the day.
Hood type or undercounter?
If you're washing for a busy restaurant, café or function venue and your undercounter machine can't keep up, a hood type machine is the next step. Staff can run racks through continuously without bending, and it links into a dish bench setup. If you're short on space or wash at a steady, moderate pace, an undercounter machine such as the Ecomax 504-C or Ecomax Plus F515-D will do the job.

What's in the box
The machine comes with one plate rack, one cutlery holder, chemical dispensers, a fill hose, a power lead and plug, and a pump-out drain.
Some product images show the machine with dish benches, a sink and a pre-rinse spray. These are not included.
Good to know before you buy
The machine needs a 15A power point, not a standard 10A outlet. It needs a minimum water pressure of 3 bar (300kPa), which is higher than most undercounter machines, so check your supply before ordering. With the hood raised, the machine stands 1960mm tall, so check your ceiling or overhead shelf clearance. If you're installing it in a corner, keep the right-hand side accessible for servicing.
This machine is not suitable for use with reverse osmosis water treatment. If your water hardness is above 3°dH, Hobart recommends a water softener or a Hobart Hydroline water treatment system instead. If you connect it to cold water, the listed cycle times will run longer while the machine heats to temperature.
